About the House

Seventy-eight years reading colour.

Rashmi Gems is a family gemstone house in the old quarter of Jaipur — buying, grading and matching loose coloured stones the way the trade did before it moved to photographs.

Our Story

It began at a daylight window.

In 1947, our founder took a single desk off Johari Bazaar with a loupe, a north-facing window and a reputation for turning down stones. Buyers learned that if he set a parcel aside, it was right.

We have never run a retail counter, never sold a stone we could not document, and never described a colour we would not stand behind on a video call. Three generations later, that is still the whole business.

Our Legacy

A quiet chronology.

  1. 1947

    The First Desk

A single trading desk off Johari Bazaar, buying rough and selecting cut stones.

  2. 1969

    The First Export

Calibrated sapphire parcels sent to jewellery houses in Europe.

  3. 1994

    Laboratory Partnerships

Standing accounts opened with GIA and, later, GRS for every stone of note.

  4. 2011

    The Unheated Line

A dedicated inventory of untreated sapphire, ruby and emerald.

  5. Today

    The Third Generation

The same family, the same daylight window, the same parcel paper.

Our Values

Four things we will not trade.

Honesty of Material

What the report says is what you receive. Origin and treatment, always in writing.

Selection by Eye

Every stone is judged in daylight for colour, cut and life before it is offered.

Trade, Not Retail

We are dealers. You buy at the source, without a showroom margin.

Discretion

Private viewings, private records. Your search is your business.

Grading & Our Promise

You will always know exactly what you own.

Every stone leaves with its laboratory report, its measurements and weight card, and a plain statement of origin and any treatment. Re-certification and a second opinion are arranged on request, for as long as you own the stone.

Come and see the parcels in person.
